Phase 1 · UnderstandWeek 04

Data and decisions

Stop conflating data, evidence and truth, and know which evidence would genuinely improve a decision.

Challenge

Take a real management decision and determine what missing data would make it more reliable.

Deliverable

Executive Data Brief

A dashboard reports that customer complaints rose by 20 percent. A capable leader neither celebrates nor panics. They interrogate the measurement: over what period, which segment, calculated how, and what is not represented in the number at all.

This week closes the first phase. You learn to structure an Executive Data Brief: observation, evidence, interpretation, uncertainty, recommendation. It is the format you will reuse for every technology decision in the programme.

It is also the first collective checkpoint. The group challenges your interpretation, not your conclusion.
